I used to collect slugs and snails to feed to our ducks and chickens as they are a delicacy to them. I looked up this worm diease to see if it can affect poultry and now I'm not so sure.

Reading more into the threat to dogs, it appears that the snail is only an intermediary host, the worm starts with a fox or dog (which is then transferred to it's faeces) and therefore if you are serving up snails that have not had much contact with the former, the chances are they will not be carrying anything onto the poultry. A bit like badgers and bovine TB, snails really are not to blame for the threat to dogs.

We throw ours (snails, not badgers) over the fence as neighbours also have chickens, and they love the crunchy outside, surrounding an exquisite soft interior.
