why dont TBS just manufacture a STB based on one of their tuner cards ! so obvious...
Already done - TBS5520/5927, but the profitability of supplying just a motherboard for - more than - the cost of a similar specification set top box (no power supply/front panel buttons/display/rear panel slots and socketry/case/packaging) along with all the individual sourcing of components and presales rf and safety testing is unlikely to be approved at board level.

that is not an STB - thats a USB tuner card.

They do, they have various options, the one that immediately comes to mind is the AMD Moi Pro.

It is not a satellite receiver in the normal sense of things, it is designed for streaming the satellite signals received by the internal TBS DVB cards.
However, it should be possible to hook it up and use it like a general satellite receiver.

I think the AMD Moi Pro might have been superceeded by a subsequent model?

so while we're all here...what is everyone using for Blindscanning?

i have one connection from twin LNB to Octagon SF8008 - for general \ everyday viewing, and the other awaiting connection to the perfect blind scanning STB

im currently trying, TM-5402 M3, Openbox SX4, Spiderbox 6000, Octagon SX88 (both 4K and non 4K) - exhausting...if the Octagons blind scanned low SR's sub 1000 - it would be a great blind scanner as its very quick and detailed it seems.

1. Dr HD F15 - this receiver can show a signal level on the indicator bar for frequencies that are active but below the level rquired for a lock. The downside is that it is not capable of 4K or S2X.
2. Octagon SF8008.

Where is the story coming from about SF8008 able to blind scan low SR. You can tune them manually but not blindscan.

I wrote the plugin and the bottom limit is 1000. And if the tuner returns anything lower than 800 it is deleted.

here is the result in picture of a blindscan on Türksat 42 ° East
two E2 receivers Edision MIO4K and Hitube Combo 4K
and a receiver which is not E2 the GTMedia V8 Turbo
It must be taken into account that the receivers during the blindscan
can find carrier frequencies or frequencies with data.
the V8 Turbo is not UHD and UHD programs are counted as radios.
The number of programs found should be put into perspective because some so-called programs cannot be used (image 4)
the GTMedia V8 turbo is able to find frequencies below the linc margin, but obviously cannot find the programs

A lowly Openbox V8S - fairly quick, finds transponder parameters under lock but no signal level. Superior to Primo/SX88 (other than multistream & HEVC)

it's a bit off topic but this "Openbox V8S" is unfortunately a fake Openbox and has nothing to do with Openbox (Ukrainian receivers)
here is the list of all Openboxes manufactured (including the oldest) with data coming from Ukraine; the V8S does not exist

It cost about £20 new when I bought it, I believe the V8S' Openbox brand became Freesat and then GTMedia, the menus are very similar, and the remotes are interchangeable.

Presumably a copyright issue.
The Ukrainians probably did not protect the name Openbox, and since the name Openbox had and has a very good reputation in the dxer world (thanks to the F500) people used that name.

At the time it was the cheapest box that could receive 16APSK feeds, though it was primarily sold with 'gifts' at much higher cost.

Those tuners identify themselves with a bottom limit of 1000. And lots of boxes get unstable trying to make them operate outside the specified range. If people want to make their boxes unstable they can write their own software.

Thank you Huevos for writing your blind scan software. It is much appreciated! I have recently purchased an Octagon SF8008 and can confirm the present blind scan will catch radio and tv channels down to about the 930 level if you blind scan with the bottom limit as 1000. If you run a normal scan on transponder Astra 3B 12647V 258 7/8 the receiver will lock in and scan in the channel so I can listen to Antenne Dusseldorf with no breakup. I can appreciate that blind scanning at such a low SR is a different matter.

yes, i agree - however, why not include an option for a lower than 1000 SR on a blind scan - up to the the end user if it crashes box or not....

to me its a waste, that blind scan will miss a TP with a 258 SR - when a manual scan will get it.

this really could be a decent receiver for the DXers if such a change could be implemented

Have you tried Eutelsat 33E for the DVB S2x French channels. On the Mio I can blind scan and store and watch these channels. I have terrible break up of picture and sound on the Octagon. Details are:
12597 V
DVB-S2X/8PSK
MPEG-4
10058 25/36

Waiting my sf8008 single to tests (next weeks). I need to know if tune symbol rate 60000 MIS/T2-MI satellite 8°W. My zero 4k and Zgemma h9s twin no signal.
