I have reprogrammed my dm7000 remote via JP1 to control my dm500 via the tv button.
I am told to copy the rcdm5xxx.xml from share/tuxbox/enigma/resources.
Modd the file and then place it in var/tuxbox/config/enigma/resources due to the share folder being read only.
Every time i do that and reboot i get a fatal error "unidentified key file"
The box will not respond to either remote i have to remove the file and reboot then everything is back to normal.
I have attached the original file and the modded file only chages are the key section at the top where all the two bytes in each line have changed
What am i doing wrong
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Redmick

Welcome to the forum :)

Does it crash if you copy an unmodified xml file into var/tuxbox/config/enigma/resources ?

I assume you kept the same name rcdm5xxx.xml ! :)

Try editing within the ftp client (DCC ?).

I kept the same name but you cannot edit the share folder it is read only.
Supposedly when you reboot it looks for another version in the var folder and if there is one there it will load it otherwise it will just use the one already loaded in the share folder

whoops double post
So i might as well use it.

Just tried the original file in the var folder no problems.
I have had both files open for editing at the same time and can see no difference to the files except for the key changes nothothing has moved or no ectra spaces etc.
I will try editing one line for a start to see what happens

One way is to change one line at a time and upload and reboot.

When it crashes you know the offending line. I can't remember if I edited mine in Notepad or Ultraedit32.

"undefined key menu specified" - I guess the keys don't match those in the keymapping file.

What you do is (assuming DCC) copy the file from /share to any folder in your pc which appears on the right hand side of DCC. Then, without exiting DCC, right click on the file on the right hand side (i.e. in your pc folder) and edit. Then transfer it back to /var/tuxbox/enigma/resources.

Ok so now i am very close i have the file in the remote and i have created the correct rcdm5xxx.xml file the problem is the box does not seem to be using it.
The original file is in the share folder the modded file is in the var folder.
I thought upon rebooting the box the box looked in the var folder and if there was a file in there it transfererred it into the share folder or does it just use it from the var folder.
Either way it is not responding to the modded signals and only the original signals.
Anybody have any idea as to why this is happening or am i still doing something wrong here?
Cheers
Steve
