Ok.. I am back from Mallorca, :D t'was a cool holiday and I've bought a FTA sat box!! woo, finally!!

I've bought an FCE Maximal IRD 410... I stripped off the continental plug and fitted a UK plug.. easy as 123!

It was only 120 Euros (about £85) and I am very happy with it!

Has anyone else used one of these? Any tips and tricks?

I am aware it is a FTA reciever only, but is it possible to give it a firmware upgrade to decrypt anything?

In the instruction manual it mentions software upgrades, and has an RS232 port. The FCE website is pretty incomplete, so if anyone has any info on firmware upgrades please do tell :)

And for all that are interested, a small review of functions:

- 5,000 Channel memory
- DiseQC 1.2 / Motorised Compatibility
- FTA
- Astra and Hotbird channels already programed in (last updated April 2005)
- Fast, nippy and easy to use.
- Slick, small, silver box with 4 digit LCD display on the front
- Satellite "IF" in AND out. (useful for connecting with my Pace analogue box!)

All in all, a great buy!

If you can't find any info on it directly then find out what sort of 'looky likey' it really is and read up on that instead.

By the way you've gone all GREEN look :D:D:D

Congrats :)

And as non of my esteemed chums has explained Sleepy Hollow, its a restricted area that only admins, mods and invited guests can access. Only members who have made a major contribution to the forum are invited, so congratulations
