My mate wants me to install a dish for him on 42 east as he has the abillity to decode BISS.

He has a sky digital dish up pointing at 28.2e.

Could somebody tell me how many degrees on the compass 42east is from 28.2e.

Thanks.

Make sure you put a big enough dish up for the channel(s) he wants. :D

Anything on the S1 beam really needs 80cm, anything on the east beam you can forget unless you have a REALLY big garden....

I didn't think that satellite bearings were the same as those on a compass.

Analoguesat, I think an 80cm solid should be fine for him.

I manage to pull it in on a zone 2 sky dish.

well to get this the dish looks like its pointing Horizontal. It looks like its pointing straight a head (not like the Sky,Astra 28 which you can see is tilted up. This can be a problem if house or trees in the way. You really need some where with space so you can install with full line of sight. My house I need to put the dish on the chimney to get this ( I installed next door dish to get this Sat on his chimney it was the only way to get line of sight, I used a 80cm dish and a normal Sky (Skyware) LNB. If you have the line of sight to do it, its easy enough to get

That dish is far to big to put on a chimney, if one day when you get strong winds and the chimney comes down on his beloved car you will not be so popular then. :-Nooo

Yes thats the reason I did not put a dish on my chimney, but it was the only location I could get line of sight. He wanted Turksat. Its been up there 2-3 years (in North wales) and has been OK so far. I just did it as a favour did not charge him. I did tell him the pitfalls of having it on the chimney but he still wanted it

That's fair enough, it's down to him.

Must say that you are a real hero bigkenny, going up on the roof and fixing a dish to the chimney, cause their's no way you would have caught me up there, and all this for free.

Bigkenny you are my hero. :-worship

Well hes an OK bloke it was just a favour for him as I live next door. It was no big thing. I`m in the trade so had all the equipment. Mind you I`m a manager now so dont have/use ladders so I cannot help him the same (well I could I could get one of my lads to do it) Also I like doing the odd job installing.

I found it for him in the end, slight obstruction.

I'm now trying to find Hispasat. The dish is pointing in the right direction (aligned on a compass) but I can't pull anything in. I've altered the skew, the elevation.

It's a 60cm mesh old sky analogue dish with nokia universal lnb.

Picks up hotbird,astra 1,astra 2 ,thor and 5w fine.

As a (very) rough tool, measure the distance from Thor to 28E and replicate it on the western side. Same elevation opposite skew of course.
