Hi,

I am having trouble trying to find 16E. I have looked at dishpointer to get a rough idea about azimuth and elevation but cant for the life of me pick it up! I have however managed to find 19E on half a dozen occasions and know that 16E is just slightly to the right and elevation about 2 degree different. Any tips ?

What size dish are you using out of interest. Alignment to W2/16A is a very small nudge between the 19e and 13e slot. Try using one of the three transponders on Eb16A, fairly strong here.

I am using an 85cm dish in Madrid so should be able to pick it up. Maybe I could have been using a dead transponder I dont know. I will give the Eurobird transponders a go. When you say small nudge are we literally talking maybe an inch if even ?

Cheers

Ok I put in them 3 transponders and found it ! Signal strength and quality on all 3 is about 80% each. The only problem is that they are on 15.8E and all the 16E transponders are still giving me nothing! Another miniscule adjustment needed ?

Have you scanned those three transponders to see. My guess is you've hit Hotbird 13e.

All three frequencies listed above are also used on 13e.

think your correct. Just done a scan and pulled in a tonne about 600+ off of 13E. I presume if I search again and find them 3 it must be the 16E ones ? Any strong 16E transponders ?

Not sure about Madrid, but must be worth a go.

Tweak the dish and scan again. Could also try Al$atTV on the frequency mentioned. It's a very fine movement between the two satellite positions. Hopefully you have a quality dish which will reject the two adjacent satellites.

Check the channels you are picking up on 11471 V 29950 against the channels in the link below:
_http://www.lyngsat.com/16east.html
If they match then you are on the correct satellite.
Check a few other DigitAlb channels to see if they scan in:
_http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/digitalb.html
If you are getting them try scanning in 11451 H 27500.

Try 10957 H. Al[bania]sat RTV. It's FTA and the transponder is unique (i.e. it does not appear on either 13E or 19.2E).

I have just checked this transponder with the Fibo 90 and I get it S66, Q70 about 400 km south east of you. Signal level is 50dBW for Madrid (according to Lyngsat footprint) so a 60cm should receive it fine.

I eventully got it working about 6hrs ago. For some reason no matter which way I tweek and turn the dish I cant get the transponder with Super sports (11449 H 27500) tuned perfect. The signal stays pretty much the same about 80 but the quality just keeps dropping then going back to about 80. The picture keeps slightly breaking up every few seconds though still watchable. Every other transponder is fine and the other Digitalb stations are clear.

This finding a satellite with just a receiver requires a lot of patience and perseverance though I recommend everyone should try it at least once :) Thank god I am getting a motorised system installed this week. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Well done - a lot of diligent effort just for a few days!

I've gone into Meldrew Mode about Football these days - can't bear all the stupid trumpets, drums and other pointless paraphernalia that ruin the occasion.
