The final version of Mozilla’s Firefox 3 browser is set for release nextTuesday, June 17th, it was announced today.

The browser has been in active development for 34 months with feedback fromthousands of users and independent Firefox add-on application developers.

Ship when we’re ready

"Whenever we’re asked "when is Firefox going to be released" we endeavor toanswer to the best of our abilities, but the truth of the matter is that we’llonly ever ship "whenit’s ready"," reads an entry on Mozilla’s site today.

"We have a lot of indicators that help us understand when the product isready for release: feedback from our pre-release milestones, excitement in thecommunity and the press, availability of compatible Add-Ons, and a large activebeta community helping us ensure that the release is compatible with all thevarious sites on the Internet.

Best browser. Period.

It is the company’s expectation to ship Firefox 3 this upcoming Tuesday,June 17th. Mozilla is encouraging users to hold Firefox partys and to spread the word to mates andcolleagues to download (or make the switch) to Firefox 3

It is, as they claim "the best web browser, period."

But then of course, they would say that. Try it yourself next week and makeyour own mind up.
