I would be using the 1TB drive for storage for sure but I do need everything handy on the laptop.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

@Paul
You can have both, and, FWIW, I think that's what I hope I have now got - lost the DVD drive in the laptop but am about to put that in an external USB3 case, which means I can connect it to any other m/c as well .:D
(in case my first post was not clear:
- OS cloned to SSD
- Old 1TB drive replaced by SSD
- DVD drive removed
- New Hybrid 1TB drive (after loading as much old stuff from various backups - that would not be necessary in your case) put in an appropriate internal caddy and then mounted in the old DVD bay.)

Can we now return to the Firefox 57 theme?

Mea culpa for dragging it O/T in the first place.

I did point out the risk...

Indeed you did!

Though I like Firefox 57, I find I'm still predominantly using Pale Moon.

"We don't like change, do we, Dierdrie?"

Current FF situation, installed FF 56.0.2 ESR for daily use, thus keeping all good addons in use, security updates until 07\2018. Installed it on top of (replaced) normal 56, it kept all settings, bookmarks, passwords etc, no problems.

Also giving Waterfox (portable) a test, works good as well. A few small details made me prefer it over Pale Moon.

And testing FF 58 (portable), works fine and fast here, before committing need to figure out \ wait for some good replacements \ updates for important addons.

Pale Moon does the job nicely.

I'd not noticed that, but then I rarely use YouTube.

No Browser (Or, indeed, any other App.) seems to be ideal, in one way or another!

^^^^ Ditto for 32bit.

Updating now: I retained FF even though chiefly using Pale Moon. It might come in handy, one day.

Yesterday I gave up resisting, upgraded to 58.0 thereby losing the FireFTP add-on.
No more memory leaks (slowing down the PC after a while), so it was much needed.
For FTP now using a standalone app called WinSCP, it's almost as simple in use as FireFTP.

As you know, any application installed by you on your computer is "your responsibility",so it usually sounds any warning. And Firefox is no exception,as most browsers do.Is Chrome safer? And I think few users keep that in mind. But I ask myself, what's safe as long as you surf the Internet?
In fact, each of us travel/surf with the car/app done by others, not knowing what's hiding it.And one of the effects of this is that it makes us paranoid whether or not we are aware of the use of these browsers. And the biggest irony is that the creator of these machines is not safe with his application, not to mention ordinary users like us.And so it will still be as long as the internet exists...As a matter of fact, "the madness" of our reality has been transferred to virtual reality, and ultimately dictates how we behave. As such it is good to stop making illusions that something in this virtual reality is safe,as you already know.
