I've persuaded a fellow old codger to buy a Humax Foxsat HDR (before I do). Having slowly gone through the Quickstart Guide we can't get it link with the TV, and the remote doesnt seem to operate.

He's got a single aerial on 28E and is using HDMI and no scart.

When the TV is showing terr BBC 2 England and the Foxsat shows BBC 2 England in the display panel how do we get the TV to show the sat version.
We seem to have missed a step

Press the Source or Video button on the TV Remote to scroll around to HDMI.

It did.
I rushed over there and it worked first try.

The next problem - its not operating on the Remote.
How does he link that in?

We can change channels in the up/down under the front cover.

Odd.

Try replacing the Batteries.

If that doesn't work, see if the Battery terminals are exhibiting signs of corrosion. If so, clean carefully with fine sandpaper, ensuring any dislodged bits can't fall inside the casing.

Is it brand new, or pre-loved, like mine?

I imagine the latter, otherwise you wouldn't be getting any Channels anyway as you wouldn't have been able to do a "First Time Installation"

Good luck.

Nearly time for Midsomer (pop. 63 and falling) Murders.

The remote has a series of buttons along the top. If the top left one marked PVR doesn't flash when you press the numbered channel buttons then it's in the wrong mode. Press the PVR button and all should be OK.

My wife frequently manages to press one of the other buttons, usually the AUDIO button, and then complains that "it's not working properly"!

The other buttons are so that you can use the remote to control other devices - once you put the correct codes in of course.

(While watching Midsomer Murders - whoops there goes another one).

Got it. Thanks Paul.
He's just phoned, pressed PVR and alls well - for today.
I think we must have pressed every button on that remote twice over this afternoon.

Excellent - glad your second issue was also "finger trouble".
