A Bulgarian football club is to build a chapel next to its ground, to help fans rid themselves of negative emotions before and after games.

Officials at the Levski club hope fans will pop into the chapel as they walk by it on their way to the club's Georgi Asparuhov stadium in Sofia.

The Monitor newspaper said Levski bosses had planned the project "to provide the team's fans with a place where they can appease their negative emotions before and after their favourite team's games".

Levski sports club chairman Stoyan Hranov said: "The religious culture of young people is not at the necessary level and the proximity of the chapel to the stadium might provoke interest on their part."

The chapel, due to be completed in May next year, will be open to everyone regardless of which team they support.
