I see there have been no Passion (not +) updates since October 2010
Does that mean that Forec will not be releasing any more?
Is there anywhere else that updated software can be downloaded?

I doubt there will be any more releases for this receiver. In my opinion it's never worked correctly from day one. Fortecstar are good at releasing receivers and not updating them properly, the Beta receiver was a prime example only had one update then quietly forgotton.
Personally, I would never buy any more of there products, even the new Real Digital receiver is full of bugs having read Wotsat.
My Passion was consigned to the local tip!

Ive never been impressed with Fortec receivers either to be honest. The software on my old Beta was flaky, and ISTR it trashed itself eventually. Might still be in a cupboard somewhere if it hasnt already gone in the scrap bin up at the tip

Thank you for your replies, I suspected as much.
I personally have had no problems with this box.

I take it that this will be a similar situation for any replacement for the Passion, and is common to all manufacturers.
Its a shame that there is not a basic firmware for all models?

Thank You Briagw

I did not see your reply immediately as we were posting around the same time.

I did join the other forum but appear to currently be in the same position as our new members in the other thread. Low post counts restrict my download of the file. Its a shame its not available to members here, though as a site admin myself I do understand possible issues with this.

I will sort it from the other site when I get a bit more time.

The other forum had a pruning session some time back, deleting any members that didn't post for some time. I was on there, but got struck off even though I had a post count of over a 100. The guy runs it like the Gestapo and is often rude to members, it's a wonder he has any membership left....Oh and he is a big Fortec Star fan!

Same for me. I got wiped from the site for the same reason. I had been helping out as a Mod in the Humax HD section (now wiped), making channel lists etc., also some beta work on the Fortec Passion. Counted for nothing though when I rejoined. He always seemed a miserable sod anyway.

Newbie posts are all moderated, which I can see as sensible only if you have a big spambot problem.
You are also unable to update your profile. Must be a right pain monitoring your forum 24hours
to that extent.

I agree 100% - I would not buy another Fortec Star product because of the appalling support. There must be receivers all over the UK that can't receive Channel Four HD properly and FS are simply not interested. It's not value for money when it has to be binned because of a lack of manufacturer support. I wouldn't buy anything they are involved with.

I think i would agree I would never buy a fortec star product again. The support is really awful. Why they didn't write a freesat package that automatically downloaded all channels and put them in position. Also like most manufacturers here is no way to easily get circuit diagrams. My power supply just failed - So I had to draw it out and then check all the components until I found the faulty part. It would have been so much easier if a diagram was stuck inside the case. I dont know what they are trying to protect by not doing this.
