After three races, Maverick recalculates the values in the light of form, to better reflect the actuality.

Very true to life, if you bear in mind the FIA often act to attempt to counteract a runaway winner artificially.

Eeek I was away for the last race so missed this update (no internet ). ISTR the extraordinary adjustment was introduced in 2010 after Brawn did so well and ran away with things. Its not been needed the last couple of years - Red Bull were set so expensive to begin with hardly anyone would have been able to afford the drivers at the beginning of the season unless they were playing some really outrageous tactics!

Only caught the headlines for qualifying; seems like everyone except Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull got penalties? i.e. everyone who is struggling gets to struggle some more. And doesn't a 25 place grid penalty when there are only 20 cars sound a bit ridiculous?

yes but the balance will have to be taken at the next race so I understand

The rules have been amended for penalties.

Button gets a 25 place penalty, and has to serve an early 10 second stop/go as he obviously cant serve his full penalty drop.

Alonso now also has a 25 place penalty due to engine & gearbox changes , but he gets a drive through to finish off his penalty.

Both drivers lucky to escape injury there - as was the cameraman they stopped right in front of who was following the leaders and not what was coming towards him.
