Can be counterproductive, though: AS an early bony-fido FSFS punter some years ago, I got a month's "free" Sky World: We soon realised that in actual fact we really rarely watched anything that wasn't FTA anyway!

I sincerely believe that there are a great many BSkyB basic Subscribers who don't realise that the benefit they might be getting is marginal.

By all accounts they aren't bringing in anywhere near enough punters to justify their outlay.

Really bad error of judgement by Bernie/Auntie/BSkyB.

Still, my French & German listening skills are improving!

They should have learned their lessons from the Sky F1 channel debacle from a few years ago -viewing figures were minuscule.

Its only the hard core viewers that will bother to pay extra for sky's coverage - many folks just wait for the delayed free coverage later in the day, or do without.

Unfortunately AS is correct it is the hard core who are comfortably well off as to be able to afford, I think they just underestimate how many people are out of work or on very low wages who simply cannot afford to pay more to watch TV.

I only pay for a basic HD package and I don't even watch enough of that to justify the cost. Now and again for House on Sky1 and only if I record something. But mainly it's the "Freesat" channels I watch when I do watch something.

I did have the movie channels a few years ago but again I could have spent less hiring DVDs from my local Blockbusters (do these exist any more?) based on the number of actual movies that I watched from these channels.

Hm..... maybe I am in the wrong hobby?

There's only the cricket and darts on that's worth bothering with and Indy cars Sunday night.

I have the sports/movie channels on a 6mth half price offer til end of August and shall be considering my options.

thinking of getting sky italia back for the footy and need to sort something out for the rugby league maybe that new French channel for that.
