I've been away for a while and have noticed all the chat about the impending reconfiguration of the 28.2 degrees slot in the coming months.A simple question to pose but I reckon a difficult one to answer is will there be any fta material remaining to view after December in Gran Canaria. The reason I ask is that I don't have any subscription owing to the fact that I am back and forward to the island and managed quite well with the current fta material, radio/tv and I also have a dish pointing at 26 degrees with is more than adequate for movie purposes.

You're right - it is difficult to answer.

When 2F is in position we just don't know what reception will be like at the fringes. All we can say is that it will probably be more difficult (i.e. a larger dish needed), and some places will find it impossible, compared to 1N.

I would not advise anyone to spend any money until 2F is transmitting and we know what we're dealing with.

The fta stuff on Eutelsat 28A will stay just as it is atm, at least until Eutel 28B is lit up. (No dont ask - we dont know if or when this is going to happen!)

The main fta channels that will be affected by the new Astra 2F are the BBC & ITV channels on the old "Astra 2D" frequencies.

There may be some changes with the European beams, but until 2F is on station and actually lit up its all guesswork

OP, if you look at the information in this other thread -http://goo.gl/iwQio it will be of interest to you. I am trying to find out the dish size for Gran Canaria (it has been tested) but I imagine it is probably 1.2 m. Not possible with Digibox though.
