Freesat makes key appointments

Freesat, the free-to-air satellite television service backed by the BBC and ITV, has boosted its team ahead of its launch next year with the appointments of DTG director general Richard Lindsay-Davies as commercial development director, Will Abbott as brand marketing and communications director, Chrysalis group finance manager Simon Winder as finance director and James Atkins, currently of LG, as marketing manager.

Last month Freesat appointed project director Emma Scott as the venture's first managing director.

Freesat will offer 200 channels plus interactive services for a one-off payment, targeting both the 27% of the UK population who are currently outside of DTT coverage and those with HD-enabled TV sets who do not wish to pay subscription services for high definition content.
