can someone advise me on freesat satelite dish cable connections please?

I have on order a Freesat Recordable 4K TV Box due to my Humax Foxsat box starting to make funny noises, sounds like the HD is going

I believe I need to change my imput cables to wideband LNB cables to record 4 programs at once,

having spoken to an engineer regarding changing my current cables over, he stated he had never heard of Freesat using wideband LNB cables, but if I do need wideband LNB cables it will also mean a new dish,

can someone confirm if I will need Wideband LNB or not?

You'll need a wideband LNB to get the most out of the box, but it should also work with your existing LNB with similar recording limitations as your current Humax.

If you wish to change to a wideband LNB then it depends what type of dish you currently have. If you have a Sky minidish with a spirit level then a simple swap to a Sky branded wideband LNB will be sufficient. If it's an older Sky dish then an adapter may be required, or a new dish if it's really old. If you have a round non-Sky dish then a 40mm wideband LNB from Inverto can be used.

You don't need to change the cables, they can be re-used.

thank you ozumo, I appreciate I can use the existing dish but that would mean not being able to use the new box to it's full capacity, after all I have paid for it so might as well, so it looks like a new dish and cables, after all I had sky multi room when the children were very young, they are now parents so been a long time, but I do appreciate your help and advice so once again many thanks

You may be able be get an adapter depending on the age of the dish, or you may also be able slightly modify the LNB holder and fit a 40mm wideband LNB. Would save the cost of paying someone to install it. A photo of the LNB & how it is mounted to the arm will help.

If you are confident in your ability to align a new dish then I'd recommend a 'zone 2' dish for the stronger signal for when it rains.

I use Zone 2 dishes in London - because, taking into account the weather, I fit them once and then basically just forget about issues like that as we can then get Astra 2/SKY UK on one (for the lounge SKY Box), same again (but for the other sat receivers) + Hellas Sat on 39E (and 19E if I could be bothered to fit an LNB) on the 2nd, and 30W on the 3rd one. :D

A five pack of zone 2s was my first foray into multi satellite reception, one was destroyed in a storm but the other four are still going strong nearly twenty years later.
