-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Following channels MAY have regular English programs. I am in the process of monitoring them regularly to create an English Schedule:

Terra Nova - Wildlife/Geog Documentary Channel (Think Discovery Channel)

GoTV - Austrian Music/Young peoples channel (Think Rapture TV)

TV Gusto - Food channel?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following channels have English programs NEARLY all the time:

Clear TV - VERY low budget older stuff, washed out picture, general entertainment.

CNN - news

Travel Channel - Like Sky Travel but more low budget. Travel Documentaries

Raceworld - Motor Sport (think Motors TV)

CNBC - Financial News

BBC World - News and Documentaries

Sky News - news

Check www.digitalsat.co.uk for Frequencies

------------------------------------------------------------------

I am currently trying to find listings for ClearTV using Google NL. Anyone that can speak Dutch that could help please say. I have emailed ClearTV asking why the site has not been updated

------------------------------------------------------------------

I E-Mailed most of the main German Broadcasters (in German) enquiring about English programing with German subs.

RTL, SAT1 and Kabel Eins have all replied saying they USUALLY don't show anything in English.

No other replies recieved as of yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Anything made in England or America that is shown on arte is original language. There are a few exceptions to this, but I have no way of knowing for certain as of yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------

TVP Polonia and ESC1 Egypt Occasionally show programs in Polish/Egypt-Arabic and have English subtitles. These are usually Drama/Soap Programs.

I have got a Polish speaker to scour the TVP Website but he can't pick out anything specific about how much is in English.

Anyone that can speak Arabic that wishes to help would be appreciated to help translate bits of the ESC site to find out about what stuff is in English.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Any information on English on 19.2e not mentioned would be very much appreciated :)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Signing Off at some mad time in the depths of the night! dvmedia :)

Wow! The list keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Not too big, but I saw a cartoon about counting to 12 on TV7 Tunisia this morning :D
Can anyone tell me whether TV Puls was on Astra or not?

I don't think TV Puls is no.. isn't that on Hotbird? What is on it anyway? :D

Oh btw, RE: what you said the other day about WWE/WWF wrestling, I see it's on "Tele5" on Friday night...do you think it will be in English?

edit: ooh and astra19e... here is the TV7 Tunisia Schedule - maybe you can identify the program by the time you saw it? :):)

I was looking, and it was under "Enfantine" (can be translated as children's).
I think somebody once mentioned the WWE wrestling was in English, and I have seen it, but don't remember what language it was in.

I'll list WWE on Friday's schedule anyway...as I am about 80% sure I have also seen it in English before. Like..sometime last year :p (the only real speaking is some awful commentary anyway)

Was this Enfantine kids program subtitled in any language (Arabic/French).. or just English Audio with no subs?

Also, a quick net translation of "Enfantine" does indeed, lead to "Childish" if literally translated :p :p :D

I'll try and check GO in a minute.
I remember Puls from analogue, they showed old cartoons in English.
That reminds me, when channels show things like Tom and Jerry, they have little speaking anyway so it's likely they'll be in English.

I checked GoTV and it was the UK chart show, non-stop music apart from the occasional commercial break and sponsor announcing.
The "enfantile" thing was a part of what looked like an arabic preschool block, and it was trying to teach them English. It probably was one of the short cartoons they used to have on Sesame Street in the 80s-early 90s.

Can confirm Mr Bean is in English (although admittedly there isn't much dialogue at all)

Want to expand the list to those channels on 13E that show a reasonable amount of English? You would be surprised what you can find!

I would love...too...unfortunately I'd be here for ever :( It takes over an hour to do the 19e ones.

Is there anything off the top of your head on 13e which is good + and in english? (ie. any top programs that large numbers of people actually watch in the UK :D- I know the Scandanavian channels show "24" in English, and MTV Switzerland is the same as the DE one)

Scandanavians show practically everything in English!
13E didn't really have much :/
The Polish channels often had English + Polish soundtracks at the same time on shows however.

Cool..a nice little list there..

Are there any specific programs on any channels you can think of? (along the lines of more General Entertainment than news/documentary)

Turns out the show I saw yesterday on TV7 was Sesame Street. It was mostly in Arabic with a few English songs.
