Scotland boss Archie Gemmill admits his side didn't reach the standard required for a World Cup Finals.

Scotland manager Archie Gemmill refused to criticise his players despite a third consecutive defeat at the Under-20 World Cup Finals in Canada.

A last-minute strike by Jonathan McDonald gave Costa Rica a 2-1 victory.

Mark Reynolds' first-half opener had been cancelled out in the second half by Pablo Herrera.

Gemmill said after the match in Burnaby: "I thought the lads gave every last ounce of energy they had, but they came up that little bit short.
