I have been receiving eurosport without a hitch for years. Now it seems as if it vanishes for long spells ( houers) at the time only to reappear with perfect quality. Has anyone a clue as to what is teh problem, my reciever or the transmission. I have no problems with other stations on this satellite. . The Eurosport transmission is on 12226 H .

What are your signal strength, and quality readings?
Do you lose any other channels, on the same frequency, RTL, RTL2, Vox?
Is there anything that could be blocking the signal?
Please post more information, regarding your set up, general location, dish size, receiver make/model.
Also post bacjk, next time you lose the signal, so we can check it is still working.

Hi Per. Can you provide a bit more information? Where are you located? What size dish? Can you receive other channels when this happens? How old is the dish installation? Does it coincide with any external factors e.g. bad weather? If your installation is a few years old, could the dish have moved slightly? LNB may be deteriorating? Thus making the system more susceptible to losing signal when there is cloud cover.

SNAP!

I have no realistic indication of actual signal strength, my set only displays a bar indicatin BER. It shows very low but stable reading when it does not work, full bar when it does work. RTL and RTL2 disapear at the same time as Eurosport. Also CNN on 11776 V is lost some time.

Details: Location: 57.45 N; 13:41 E
Dish Diameter 1.5 Meter
[h=1]LNB: Invacom SNF-031 LNB[/h] Receiver: Nokia 9450: Software Version 1.401, Hardware Version 6.14

Cable distance from antenna to receiver about 20 meters
Second antenna 2. 4 meter diameter aimed at 28.2 for BBC etc works ok, except in very heay rain or snow.
Switch for antennas located indors at reciever and controlled by receiver. Two separate cables from antennas.

Think this is all

Can you please post the BER readings.
Are you in Sweden?
Your dish should be adequate but not correctly aligned.
Can you please try removing the cable, from the Diseqc switch, and feeding it directly into your receiver, then check the signal readings.

It might be worth carefully checking the condition of the coax cables - if one has rubbed through and has got water in it you can find different frequencies are absorbed to different amounts.

BER: my receiver provides no numerical info on BER, only bars representing it, normally the bar is full length, when problems show up, bar is about 1/3 the length. Get about 1/3 displayed even if I disconnect antenna cable.

lOCATION: Sweden, 100 km east of Gothenburg.

Direct connection of cable bypassing DISEC switch does not cure problem.

The following frequencies a l work ok: 11954, 12604,12266;11597; Maybe some more but I have not done a full scan of all possible frequencies

Are there any others emissions (At 12226 - 10600 = 1626 MHz) close by?

Not sure what L Band frequencies are used by other services in Sweden >>> possibly a new Mobile Phone Mast in the vicinity?

Have you recently purchased/brought into use any other electronic equipment?

Dish alignment not probable cause: forcing dish by force to point slightly up/down eastwest does not alter anything.

Have not purchased any new widgets during last year.
Nearest mobile phone mast is about 2000 m away and has been there for years, possibly new 4G transmitters added during this year, but mast is at 90 degrees from antenna axel. Frequencies used for all mobile phone traffic here is presumably same as used all over Europe.
Power cable feeding house has been rerouted during this year, possibly interference from welding shop located 400 cable meters closer to supply transformer. However, problem exist also during times when no work is being done at shop.
My receiver is bit old, think it went out of manufacture about 8 years ago. Possibly it cannot cope with HD streams of data and gets confused?? Any thought on this, and what receiver would you recommend for my situation? Would ideally like to be able to use “red button”, EPG and text.
