We had Lennon/McCartney, but in the US, Goffin (who has died aged 75) and Carol King were writing great songs from the late 50's onwards.
My favourites from that era: - 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow', 'Take Good Care of My Baby', 'It Might As Well Rain Until September'
Later, Goffin would write a string of hits including 'Locomotion', 'Natural Woman', and 'Saving All My Love for You' .
