Right, I think I have all the information I need for my new, erm, "hobby" - right now I have a Smart Vento Plus (rebadged Force D-Master 1122s I believe) with two Vi*ccess slots and two CI CAM slots. Latest software's on it from Astra 1.

It's connected to an 80cm dish with monoblock @Astra1/Hotbird.

One has "Dragon" pencilled above it ;)

I believe I need a Dragon (any Dragon?), a loader card and a programmer

CAM: hxxp://www.nasacom.ch/infos/infos.asp?db=pc&product=2040
Prog: hxxp://www.nasacom.ch/infos/infos.asp?db=pc&product=2098
Load: hxxp://www.nasacom.ch/infos/infos.asp?db=pc&product=2016

Now my question is....
Will I need the programmer and the loader card immediately to update the CAM or will it be ready (for what it can decode, please please T*P*S don't change soon or I'll have to swing to 42e ;))?
Will I need to consider anything else (like my cheapo receiver not working with it)?
There's no way a Dragon'll update in PC Card slot (so I believe)?

My project will move on a step soon when I motorise my dish (I have to wait for grilling season to be over so I can steal the stand :D).....and sometime on 2006, Dream will be Boxing my setup ;)

So, advice, steering, comments, critisim - all welcome. Maybe it all seems so alien to me even though I am completely at one with computers....until I've done it once and then I'll be laughing...?

Cheers - Lee

dragon loader and writer correct loader card should come with the cam if it does not then send it back and card writer is a must from day one staying on top of firm ware ensures maximum pleasure and when you get motarised you wont know where to point good luck in your sat hobby

ok, I have the stuff, I feel like it's my birthday ;)

Dragon CAM (rev 2.06 if that matters)
Infinity Unlimited USB programmer
Loader card

I have the predator320.zip file here in front of me and I believe that I can simply load the fun7ldr.hex into flash and the predator320.bin into external ROM with Infinity 2.6?

hehe, the only reason really to get it! ;) I like the 13e/19e pickup I'm getting and don't want to go 42e/1w......

Am I right in assuming I don't need to split the files? I'm still trawling through information on that side.......

[edit this is more info confirming what I've seen]
The fun7.hex goes into the pic. The .dra OR .bin goes into ext EEPROM in
REVERSE span. Leave internal EEPROM blank.

My Q. would be .... dra or bin, does it matter?

this 2.60 Infinity Unlimited software is cool.....almost does it all for you.....

Autodetect based on OS, sees Dragon Loader, set external eprom with .dra in reverse-span and fire...

Now I need simply to use my time valuably tonight and hopefully T*S is open and I can enjoy the footy tomorrow whilst not paying for Prem Plus and not tying up Sky+.

The wife will be pleased, well - sort-of.... :)

cack and double cack. My cheapo Vento/Force box won't boot with a programmer 3.20 Dragon in it. Nor 3.06.

Trying 2.34a now. At least I can reprogram the bloody thing.

I feel the wife becoming upset with the DreamBox arriving early....'specially as I think newcamd does the same job as Dragon. Anyone got anything against a DM500-S?

never mind, old fashioned receivers take a while to boot with Dragons installed. 3.20 works with 5 minute boot. T*S? Yeppie ;) And some steaming mature content.... :)
