well the Sky+ box went pop... and lost all power :(

i checked the fuse in the plug, it was OK

its out of warrenty so i decided to open it up, and see if it had one of them glass fuses on the main board like some do...

it has... and it was black and looked well blown.... i looked all over and the only place i could get one was on the maplin website.

i went to the local maplins instead and bought some.

heres my question. (eventually :D )

the one in the Sky+ box was a slow blow 4amp... but i can only get hold of a quick blow 4amp 20mm fuse?

will a quick blow.... blow and cause further damage to the box?

i would of thought a quick blow is better than a slow blow.... but you never know.

help please ;)

Naughty, Topper :-rofl2

Red Devil, they use slow blows to prevent the fuse popping due to transient mains spikes.

i should have know i wouldnt get a sensible answer.

"note to self, never ask a question on here with the word blow in the title" :D

well i replaced the fuse... plugged the power in and POP!!!!
gone again, i have another 9 fuses just like that one, but something tells me they will all do the same :(

so i either... really need the slow blow (easy tiger!!) or there is a pretty big problem with my box!! (easy tiger mk 2)
