George Melly, jazz singer, writer and art historian has passed away aged 80.

A great all- round entertainer with a liking for singing blues in the Bessie Smith style, his loud and colourful singing style matched the loud and colourful jackets :-rofl2

I first saw him perform when getting into jazz in the late '50s. RIP George.

My bruv liked him. A sad loss, one of the last remaining true eccentrics in the Liberace mode. :)

Didn't particularly like his jazz, but no doubt that he was an outstanding personality in the second half of the 20th century, a sad loss but great memory. :)

George said he was mature content until he was 30, bisexual till 55 and straight till the day he died.

He had it all ways. Literally. ;) No offence. :)
