Been reading this thread with much amusement. I have my friends (probably corrupted image) Dreambox here to try and fix and although I am very impressed with it they do seem like a nightmare to work with!

Well i got my dreambox last week, came with basic 1.08 image installed on
flashed it with FlashWizard PRO 4.5a upto Gemini 1.05 installed scam2.5.tar.bz2
and newcamd5.28.tar.bz2 and those other files u need ;) and every things been
great. Just got basic skydish on 19e Astra1 at the moment with 82% signal
strength.

Just thinking about what dish im gonna buy and what sats i wanna recieve

Ultimate choice would be 1w 13e and 19e on 90cm dish with a 20degree LNB
holder, but im wondering if this might stand out abit on my road and be a little
over the top for my new hobby. Or to go for 80/90cm dish with a monoblock
on it and just pickup Astra1 and Hotbird and be happy with that.

Are there much english speaking documentary type channels on 1w anyways ?
ie discovery channel and the like

Anyone got any advice on dish choices ?

haha, well i did try to explain how and what i did above, i think problems
arise when people try to do to much at once. i have been sniffing around a few
of these forums for the 2 weeks before i actually purchased my dreambox.

I wouldn't mind explaining to anyone else the procedures i took. for me personaly
i think u need to get a nice clean image onto the dreambox and use the addon
installer for the emus with the tar.bz2 files
(links on here w*w.i-have-a-dreambox.com/~emucenter/7000/emu/cam.xml)
installing them 1 at a time. took a little bit of time to actually know how to
enable them, but its all logical once you have had a nose around the menus

Myself i dont see a reason to have the Dreambox connected straight to the
Internet, but thats a personal preference

Admins / Mods slap me if that links out of order, just trying to give back to
such a useful forum

oh btw the dreambox and this forum got a mention in 'Digital Satellite Choice'
magazine I purchased today.

Good advice, and it sounds like it worked well for you :-flash

I think that one or two of the people involved with either of the two sources could actually be involved in BOTH! ;)
