The graphic card will have nothing to do with how long a file takes to be converted from one format to another, but it may help with the video from your SS2, I have had no problems with my onboard graphics adaptor though, seems to work well with the SS2. :)

Rolf right its your processor and your memory that handles video conversion plus hard drive speed obviously for storing it.....:-mamster

Still there is some help if the videocard is in an AGP slot and if it has it´s own videoprocessor

So a good videocard should help, at least somewhat even if it doesn´t make miracles

ANd it will speed up normal computer work as well

Your computer is struggling Richard.
You need a graphics card (best you can afford) and some more memory (another 256Mb should help.)
Your processor is right on the edge of being any use with an SS2 so you need to help it with the above things.

Not in your area no.
Just get the best you can afford, you can always move it to a new machine when you get one then.

Be careful when fitting the components.
leave the computer plugged in but not switched on.
get a thin piece of wire and attach one bare end to the chassis and the other bare end to your little finger at all times.

Then when you have put it back together, run the setup CD that comes with the card.

It is so if you pick up any static from the carpet or wherever it goes down to earth via the mains lead you left in, and doesn't discharge across the components on the motherboard.

Yes you can .
