Hi ppl,

I have a chance to buy GRUNDIG GDS310 digibox for a reasonable price. I am going to use it for BBC fta channels. The thing is that i live in southern Poland and as you know Astra 2d signal is very weak here. I am about to install 180 cm dish to pick mentioned above channels.
What is your opinion about that receiver, is it any good???? how about the treshold, will it work in my area????

Please give me a piece of advice whether to buy it or not

many thanks

rgds
Iggy

The Box is OK
I don't think you will get much luck with the dish though.
In Berlin with a 180cm dish you are on the absolute border with that size.
Why do you want a Sky box btw?
Your setup should be able get the FTA channels anyhow.

I have a friend who receives BBC fta on 1,3m dish in western Poland.

I am buying a box because of its reasonable price, 20 pounds is not that bad, i am going to use it for tests though.
My Mediasat 1430 has bad treshold so that it might not be good enough for BBC.

cheers

Hi Iggy
I agree - this is a good buy.
Your information about reception of BBC is interesting.
Colud you suggest to your frien that he should go to www.astra2d.com
and mail the details of his system? Other people could be interested too!

I will pass that suggestion onto him shortly and also I will post here some screenshots on his behalf. Its weird, but he receives only H signals but not V at all. Here in Krakow is in reverse

A quite usual happening in extreme fringe reception areas - things can change dramatically over short distances...

(Here in the uk, Nilesat 7W reception of the V channels is possible, but the H ones are very difficult.)

Same story here in Krakow, i receive perfectly V transponders on Nilesat, but H ones are very weak, but possible to receive

Here are the screeenshots from my friend who receives H signals from Astra 2D using 130 cm offset dish

The 310 is not a good box for weak signals........the 310/2 is much better and so is the GDS2000......they all look the same.....................

I finally installed my 1.8m parabolic dish......

Good news guys, i receive all V transponders with signal strenght of 75%. It's 22 20 cet and picture is still perfect, it appears that V signals can be watched 24/7. With regard to H transponders, unfortunately nothing can be picked - shame

I dont know what is the manufacturer of my diish, but it seems to be very good of quality, LNB iis Grundig C-120 0,6 db, not the best one, but does the job.

anyway, I am happy to receive at least BBC ONE, ITV3 and some more, and still i can watch them continuosly
