Just ordered an 18 inch superjack and polar mount
Going to get some brackets this week...
Ask someone who has this dish on a polarmount how much clearance it will need from the wall, could be quite a bit depending on where the actuator pokes out.

Yes have been thinking about that good shout

It has been playing in the back of my mind

Just to further complicate things I am picking up a 1.5m gibby tomorrow for £70.00 - i dont know why i just am

I put my first dish up five months ago, got there in the end and all was pretty good

But i couldnt just leave it there, i had to go bigger

I then fooked up big time on the 125 gibby, now i am buying a 1.5

Is this normal behaviour?

Oh and can the 1.5m be wall mounted and thats a serious question

Its not impossible but you need some serious fixings, personally I would ground mount it

Yes I agree a ground mount is best for dishes over 120 cm,
All my dishes are ground mounted as it is much easier to change Lnb's & service from ground level.

Definitely agree I wouldn't consider mounting a 1.5 dish of the side of my house.

My gibertini 1.5+polar mount and 18" hd actuator is on a nprm in the garden.

It's much safer and I have easy access to whenever I want.

I have the same bracket as you, it works ok for my 78cm but I think for a 1m+, T&K is the way to go, if anything just for safety and stability.

Another obvious reason for ground-mounting, if you can, is that a large dish is heavy and unwieldy to handle (a 90cm dish is bad enough) - especially up a ladder as you probably have to hang on to that, hold the heavy dish up to the support pole AND assemble and tighten the clamps, all at the same time (that takes 3 hands, but most of us have only 2;)). OTOH, on the ground, you have more personal stability and freedom of movement, and you might even be able to get someone to help you with the job.

I installed many 1.5m IRTE dishes in the late 80's early 90's that had to go on the wall.

The standard post was steam-pipe, secured into the ground and a near the polarmount, but at a pinch, the existing ground stand could be fixed high up, with custom wall brackets and studding bent round to a 4" diameter. Only fitted two of those but I believe one of them is still operational. The main problem was the motor vibration would resonate and amplify through the post and could be heard in the next road.

You will need chemical bolts for the wall, or better, studding through to the inside and do not take any chances up the ladder.

Not quite the same, but my very first dish was an 80cm NEC with a 36V H-H mount that I mounted on top of the front bedroom bay window - and the lodger in that bedroom used to complain about the motor noise when I moved the dish (controlled from my bedroom, which was/is at the back of the house) late at night when I was looking at several "interesting" foreign channels ;). The other downside only became clear later when rainwater leaked through the ceiling below the top of the bay window !
