Trie to boot my DB (using Gemini) and gor an fsck error. I believe the disk has gone bad as I removed it and tried it in another Linux box with no joy.

Installed a new disk in the DB and tried to format. It is still being reported as the old disk (Maxtor) whereas the new drive is a Seagate. Checking the disk still reports the format of the old disk and refuses to let me format the new disk (says there is data on the drive).

I have performed a factory reset and the DB still reports the old disk.

My brain hurts. Heeeeeeeelp.

Perhaps new disk is same as old disk but rebadged? Anywayz

stick the new disk inside your other linux box. run cfdisk on it, then mkfs on it (i know not required but DO IT). After this place it in your dreambox, adn then reformat it again in your dreambox. Providing your box lets you get past fsck who cares what it identifys the disk as.

Also if it does ask you to run fsck then why dont you ? :p

Nope, one is Maxstor one is Seagate.

I'll try setting it up in another box and the sticking it in the DB. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply.
