Help a newbie choose a receiver and extras

Hi guys

i'm a total newbie at all this stuff and im just trying to figure out what the best equipment for me would be. I live in Hounslow, London and mainly want a set up that allows me to watch some decent footy and as well as to start a new hobby

So far the setup I have is:

1.2m Dish
Nokia Universal LNB
Wall mounted adjustable pole with a Stab DiSEc 1.2 motor
Elvis programmer
No receiver (need recommendations)

One of my mates has offered to sell me his humax 5400 but Ive seen the humax 5400z at various sat websites

so can anyone give some advice on which receiver I should get

:

the humax 5400?
the humax 5400z?
Or forget the humax range and opt for the 6in1 Technomate 5000CI with Irdeto 2?
Or a better one that any of you experts can recommend?

I maybe a newbie but a very quick learner, so all of you expert knowledge will be much appreciated

some coax cable and connectors would also come in handy :-) other than that youre pretty much ready to start enjoying your new hobby.Manhattan plaza range are also good receivers to start with.

I was also looking at the Technomate 1500 CI+ Ive seen these go for around £100.
Are these very easy to use for a beginner? Are they easy to patch? I just want a receiver that wont mess up all the time and even if it does its easy solve the problems

In which case there's no need to wary of a Dreambox ;)

It was my first (and only) receiver- and no experience of sat stuff. Steep learning curve but all sorted now and the crowd in the DB section are very helpful.
