You wont need to call anyone...Just stick the card in a skybox and wait for the updates which sometimes take up 24 (or more hours)

Is that the rule for all FTV cards? The ones I had,had to be activated over the phone and they still wanted the box details.Maybe they were the old free to view cards. Is there more than one type,I mean like freesat and free to view?

As far as i know,SKY issues freeview (freesat) cards to their subscibers as they do normal subscription cards (registered skybox details required)...These cards need one time activation by SKY in the registered skybox, afterwards they can be updated & used in any skybox...That's how they end up on the market;)

Do you mean the sky freesat cards can be upgraded to subscription?

I did not say that...I was told every SKY subscriber is entitled to a freeview card at cost...these cards do need one time activation which has to be done in their registered skybox....Afterwards ,the card can be updated in anybox..

I understand.I get my ftv cards from someone in uk and they come activated(although they switch off if not used for a couple of weeks)
I remember the first ones were from the bbc.

They last longer than two weeks (about 6 weeks) i monitored the update process for some time using a Dreambox...longest they last is 6 weeks, then they need to be updated...
