Hi all,
I was hoping some kind person on this forum would help me out with the angles as I want to get it spot on if I can. I have been receiving good signals from 45W to 62.0E but not receiving 3W and 4W and 7.3W. I have received them in the past.

I am looking at feed hunting and pulling in as many channels as possible on all satellites.
My set up is 1metre dish with a Icecrypt H-H motor DM-101 and a Inverto black ultra and a new Octagon SX88+ SE.

My position is Latitude 51.7931 and Longitude -0.0928.
Which set in the receiver as Longitude 0.1W and Latitude 51.7N hope this is correct.
If I push the Inverto ultra LNB all the way in close to the dish I receive 62E and 55E and loose 7.3W.
But if I put the LNB in the middle I loose 62E and 55E and gain 7.3W. But still can’t get 3W and 4W.

1. What I want to know is the angle of the motor as I have a digital protractor.
2. The angle at the face of the dish I have a big straight edge to go vertical.
3. Should I start off with the LNB in the centre of the collar and push it in or out once fine tuned.

I have uploaded some photos of the information in the motor book and photos of the set up hopefully going back up on the roof tomorrow morning the pole is dead plumb.

Kind regards Michael

Are you using a current list of whats available - those 3 satellites are all fairly low powered in the UK. Try this list

Also 1m is probably a bit undersized for serious feed hunting. You will get some but feeds tend to have low transmission powers. PLUS many sporting feeds are no longer carried on satellite - they utilise fibre links instead.

To better follow the arc, I'd use the so-called 'modified motor angles' instead of the traditional angles in the table you show.
For your location: motor elevation angle ~ 37.57 degrees, dish declination offset angle ~ 6.83; total elevation due south = 30.75

For measuring dish elevation at the vertical dishface, you must know the actual offset angle of the dish; for the case that your LNB is, in fact, installed at the proper offset angle.

Otherwise you must set the LNB in the proper offset angle of the dish; or, alternatively, set the dish elevation according to the actual LNB-offset angle. If the LNB-position is hard to correct, the latter is a very good solution.

I myself usually measure motor elevation at the motor house, perpendicular to the tube that comes out of the motor house.
Then I align motor-at-zero with dish;
and then I set dish total elevation (due south) at the dish face.

Do you use USALS?
Then send the motor to a USALS-position, and align to that satellite by rotating the whole setup on the (plumb) pole.
After that, check the whole arc (see your earlier threads here on the forum).

Hi Analoguesat thank you for your reply, I am using a current list of what’s available. I know I will not get everything but I want to maximise what I have.

Hi a33 thank you for your reply, I do use USALS, and I do set it up all at 0 and then send it to 0.8W and fine tune from there. I was just trying to fine tune the alignment by using a digital protractor when it was at 0 degrees. So I was hoping someone might be able to tell me the exact degree reading I should be looking at on the motor and the dish.
Thanks again Michael

Modified motor elevation angle I already gave you.
Dishface elevation angle due south should be: 30.75 degrees minus dish offset angle.
As you gave no information that could lead to the offset angle of your dish (or LNB position), I cannot do any further calculation of that...

Hi A33,
Thanks again I did see you gave me the modified motor elevation and was grateful for that. Sorry I did not realise there was more information needed to get the other angle. Thank you for your help very much appreciated.
