Its certainly the first wireless SKY HD setup i've seen, rd :D

Nice group of envious wanabees over on avforums, hehe.;)

I really hope, though, that for all the expense and for the few channels that exist - the broadcaster's don't LOGO everything (even if they are positioned properly (sic) in true 16:9 space).

Have Fun,

Mark.

P.S. Add me to the envy list, lol.

I was going to jump in and get one with a new screen, but opted for a new 50-500mm lens for my camera instead, should hit the suppliers next month. :)

Will mess about with a spare desktop and 21" monitor and watch the BBC HD on that via my Dreambox. :)

Slightly OT.

Is that all cleared up now - watching HD/DVB-S/MPEG4, blah, on standard DVB-S kit ?

I didn't know the DreamBox (latest model 7025) could handle either DVB-S2 or MPEG 4. I read somewhere that there was a new 8000 model in the works, which would be HD, but I thought that model was not due until sometime late 2007 (or even 2008)?

BTW, it's an aperture grille (Trinitron or Diamontron), isn't it? (I have both and I can I go as high as 2048 x 1536 (@ 60 Hz) on the Trinitron, although I blame the poor refresh rate on my middle-end graphics card, I know the Trinitron can refresh higher than that on its max resolution ...)

The BBC transmissions will be in DVB-S to start off with, so the Dreambox will be fine, as long as I watch via the stream to the PC.

@Hitchcock - any chance you could read all the entry's before posting next time - I asked the same question about DVB-S. We don't need to double the Q's.;)

The issue of DVB-S and MPEG4 is causing some confusion with legacy kit owners (as it is me and I don't have the kit:mad: ).

So, for me to understand, rolf - could you possibly explain how that works (in layman's terms). Does the dreambox have a special o/p and how are you decoding MPEG4 on a MPEG2 spec'd piece of kit - or have you a Dreambox 7020/7025? Have you tested with DVB-S HD @ 19.2°?

My god, im going to explode into a panic. No i'm not.

With a PCI card I can follow (like in the other thread with the SkyStar PCI card). Stand alone stuff - I can only read the specs and as you have previously said - there is precious little MPEG4 kit around.

Ayh thank you.

Mark.

Don't know about the PCI card, but the Dreambox does not decode the stream, it is sent to the PC and Media Player Classic or VLC does the work.

I usually do but yours sort of slipped in while I was (perhaps a bit slowly) typing up mine. Didn't mean to overlook your post and hope I didn't cause any offence ... ;)

@ hitchcock, no probs.

@rolf, more homework for mark me thinks. The PCI setup is discussed here.

So im guessing unless people pay for H.264 decoding theres no free way to decode DVB-S H.264 on the computer.

VLC cant handle interlaced at all since theres no open sourced H.264 interlaced decoding and cant even handle progressive very well.
