Hi everybody! this is my first post in here!

I would like to ask a question, it is pretty much a noob question since my a beginner. Well, I would like to get hispasat on my box (spare skidigibox) but I cant find it.. I tried to get it on 30W but it doesn't work. Can sombody please tell me what do I need to do to find Hispasat?

I live in South London and my dish is a 70cm dish..

I would like to know the elevation, the lattitude and how can I use the compass to find the angle from 19.2E to 30W.

Thank you!:-Cbigsmil

Welcome ChrOnik, Your dish is large enough the same as mine, and I have no problems getting Hispasat.
Do you have a motorised dish or is it fixed. :-sball
Also what type of receiver do you have.

Your digibox will only be able to receive free-to-air transmissions from that location, and only those with a symbol rate of either 22000 or 27500. Also, you will have to enter them all manually.

There are a few over there though. Check

_http://www.lyngsat.com/hispa.html.

Your dish face should be almost exactly vertical at your location, in fact, just tilted down very slightly (maybe 1 or 2 degrees).

You'll probably need a compass and preferably a sat-fiinder meter to locate it.

I've been trying to figure out how to put the dish to 30W for hours now and I seriously don't know what to do... I've got a compass and a sat finder but I don't know where to place the compass on the antenna to find out the azimuth and how to make the compass find the right possition.

Is there a pic that someone could show me on how should I possition the compass on the antenna and how should the antenna look after the satellite is found?

thanks :-)

Do not put the compass on the antenna, steel objects will upset the needle. The sun is at 30*west at 2pm, if you have any that is:-csmile The satellite is situated higher than the sun at present.
If you have an ordinance survey map of your location you can find out where 30*west is. If not, go to Multimap.com put in your postcode and print off the map.

That will give you the general direction to look at.
Use _http://satlex.de/en/azel_calc-first_1.html to find out your actual pointing directions.
According to Multimap, Brixton Station is 51.46North and 0.1West (ie-0.1east).
Do not forget that your dish is an offset design, hence the look angle to the satellite less the offset will mean that your dish is virtually upright.
You will have to alter the skew (twist) of the LNB from where you are looking at present to the oposite direction.
Just follow what you see in _http://satlex.de/en/azel_calc-first1.html after you have put in the necessay information.
Set your receiver to an active transponder such as 11811V, 27500.
The best of luck:-hny

As Hispasat should be the strongest signal on the West you should be able to find it with your meter.

The diagram below shows roughly where the dish should point.

It's not as far west as I thought when I found it - if that helps!

Hi Chr0nik
I am sure that you will not regret your decision. Read all the stickies on the board about setting up a motorised system and come back if you get any problems.

Hi!!! I received the receiver and the motor and I've heard that you have to point the antenna to thor 1.. how can I do it? I've seen another thread about it but I didn't understand it :-( is there a "how to.... for dummies" kinda tutorial around?

Any help appreciated!
