Ive tried to find the signal with a cheap sat finder, rotated it slowly to the right but i cannot find the signal. i can find many other signals expect hipasat 30w. You have to bear in mind that the satellites are in an arc and it is not just a case of rotating around a single vertical axis, you have to alter the elevation slightly as well. If it is of any help then 13 E to 30 W is 43 degrees and that is almost half of 90 degrees and you know what a right angle looks like don't you.

right..

I have a 80cm and have no probs so here goes.

Go to hotbird and move your dish manually ( if u can ) about 20 degrees to the right i.e if your position for hotbird is 3(Horizontally) then move it till it gets to about 20(Horizontally) then move your dish down about to about -2 degrees (Vertically).

Hi 22a..

As Topper & 99,
The secret to 30w is keep your dish Vertical (Strait up and down).
I old money as you look at your dish turn 12 inches to your left.
Set your STB to a D+ channel, goto menu put up Signal strenth page,
turn dish till you BLUE Line.
You can expect a Signal Quality on an 80cm dish of 98%,
and Sig Strenth of 98%. 30w sends out one of the strongest Signals of all sats, stronger than 19e or 13e.

Signal quality is about 77% to 80% MAX

Signal level is 59% to 62% MAX and i move and tweak the position but it is still the same levels.

Hi, first sorry my bad english. But whem you turn a dish from Hotbird to Hispasat you need turn also the LNB, to the oposite way. You can see here the posistion for hispasat.
_http://www.satlex.net/pt/azel_calc-params.html?satlo=-30.0&user_satlo=&user_satlo_dir=E&location=51.51%2C-0.08&la=51.51&lo=-0.08&country_code=uk&diam_w=75&diam_h=80

And here for Hotbird.
_http://www.satlex.net/pt/azel_calc-params.html?satlo=13.0&user_satlo=&user_satlo_dir=E&location=51.51%2C-0.08&la=51.51&lo=-0.08&country_code=uk&diam_w=75&diam_h=80

I hope that it can help.

Is the picture good? If yes, don't worry about the stats.

Also, the dish shouldn't be vertical at 30W. The initial dish elevation is set at your most southerly satellite e.g. 5W. When the dish moves east or west, the elevation will change and becomes less vertical.

These levels are good enough to hold a picture even with some rain.

It is probably just fine tuning you are lacking, skew as mentioned by a previous poster is very important when moving to 30W from 13 East by hand, because a polar mount and H-H motorised mount automatically compensate for the change in skew, but you will have to manually alter it

Hi Rage99..

What is your LNBs Noise level, I had 98% on a 0.3 LNB.
Look for any Shorts, that will drop the Signal.
(Short.. outer cable threads twisted around inner Wire).

@MHKU I surgested to Pringle22a to scan with his dish vertical
because he can"t find 30w.
He must be scanning at the same elevation he had his dish on at
13e, and thats why he can not find 30w.

I had a 80cm dish, 0.6 LNB, Humax 5400ir, set to 30w with the LNB Horizontal
( No scew) 3yr back, on MGM mediasat the Signal Level was 100%,
the Signal Quality was 100% with the Dish (Vertical).
100% Blue line Signal on around 30% of all channels on Hispasat 30w.
