Hi, everyone.

I just got a 60cm dish (LNB as well, of course) and a Mirage 900s receiver - was told this was wht I needed to get hispasat in the UK. Does anyone know if this is enough. I am trying to get TvCabo form Portugal.
Thank you.

Don't know whereabouts you are, but it seems a little on the small side.
In the North West I pull it OK with an 80cm solid dish.
60cm may be OK the further South you go though not guaranteed.

Im in the Staffordshire area. Will try this way as I have already paid for it (hope it will be ok). Do you get TVCabo in the North West or just Hispasat?
Thank you for your help.

I think you will be ok - I could get most of the 30W transponders on a 43cm dish when I was doing some testing last summer

Cabo is one of the packages on Hispa, and yeah, getting it fine with an 80% signal (just checked)
Using Dragon with a blue tit in it to clear.
As analoguesat says, I hope you get it too, seems a shame to waste a free dish :)

Hi again.

Somehow I could not get it.

Contacted a local expert who is telling me I need an 80cm dish + a 0.3LNB (mine is 0.5 - according to him pre-historical). Does this make any sense to you?

I have already paid £65 to have the other dish installed and would not like to be ripped off anymore.

Any tips are more than welcome. Thank you, guys

Hi mate - LNB will be fine there, try again with your 60cm dish and remember you will need a noticeable amount of LNB skew at 30W.

Try again first before giving up and getting a bigger dish, as Hispasat has got a good signal into the UK.

Good luck :)

put 1 up yesterday in the southwest (cheltenham) 60 centemetre dish, it was a bugger to find, but got there in the end, also have had it on a sky dish last year, not sure about signal strenths on 43 centemetre but 60 is a reliable enough signal,my personal set up is a 1 metre dish but thats just not for cabo.

regards stevo

hi guys.

guess what? just moved house and can't get my dish to lock onto hispasat anymore. The technician came around and spent 3 hours trying to point it out to hispasat but no luck.
now is is telling me I need to get on the roof or at least much higher up.

the only problem with this, is that I am convinced the guy is pointing up not to 30w but well away from it. Is there a way i can check it myself?

he says hispasat is well down in the horizon so we need to go higher up. at ny other place, the lnb was in a much more vertical line, although the dish was like 10 metres higher up.

any thoughts? please help

thank you.

P.s dish is 90cm and lnb is 0.3

Hi,

To find Hispasat from the UK, you should keep your dish in a vertical position and point it to where the sun is at exactly 14.00 GMT time. That's the exact position of the Hispasat Sat at that time,

You should get the stronger tp's but expect the signal to disappear when it rains. Invets 20 quid in a bigger dish

Only at the vernal equinoxes. In summer the sun is higher in the sky than the Sats, in winter lower, even if the "horizontal direction" is right.

atm Im playing around with it pointing out the window of my computer chair...atm though I need the window open for anything to get through on astra1 - dunno why that is, maybe just needs a clean or something,
heres a photo http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/showthread.php?t=47732

Where could I get a bigger dish for 20 quid, wont include lnb I supose, would my universal sky lnb fit on one you think?

I baught this sky minidish with bolts and cable for 20 quid including postage from ebay :p

...glass, however clean, will absorb signal - best to have it open.

Lidl were doing an 80cm dish for £14.99, if I remember, and £3.99 for the LNB - you may find someone selling theirs on Ebay

would my universal sky lnb fit on one you think?

usually a different fitting from the standard LNB holder[/QUOTE]

Kappafloat or 'K' glass will not pass any (for our purposes) signal whatsoever due to the metallic content, and I am led to believe that it must by regulation be fitted to all new glazing. So you need to check.

ok thanks guys

regarding the 80cm lidl dish for £15

I forgot about that lol, we saw them, :p

what my plan is to wait till we get a dish up and then upgrade when we get bored - if my dad dont mind an 80cm dish hangin of the side of our house lol

so what satellites will an 80cm get me other than astra1/astra2/hotbird/hispisat

hopefully some good english ones :)
