hahaha i did have that idea about sneaking in the night and prodding in the trees roots and filling thm up with acid as it will burn the roots kill the trees make it look natural and not blatent they will evntually die and shed their leaves and nothing will b left of them but a tall standing log.

Hehehehe....when i lived 15 years ago at my parents house i had a 3 meter dish behind the garage, i had perfect view to the east but the west blocked by many high trees.

Anyway, i cut them all down when they were at work, a friend helped me and we did it quick with the chainsaw and the neighbour wondered what we were doing and didn't say much as it was our trees.

After my parents came home from work they were really pissed off and it took some days to calm them down a bit.

But hey! i got Panamsat at 45 West easy at an elevation of 4 degress from the ground.

It was only Galavision at the time broadcasting from there.

Why don't you put the dish on the roof with a high pole?

I know the feeling matey to get those signals in the curosity drives you to maddness not realising what your doing or about to do lol.

I think i will go with rolfw's idea of copper nails no hangin around diging holes just go there in the cover of darkness do a s.a.s mission 5 nails in each tree no one will know.

I did think about getting a 3 meter by 3inch diamter pole but the weight on this thing is quit abit and im sure on heavy wind loads this thing will get pull the bolts out including the screw plugs very easily. Im thinking of doing my shed up soon break it down and build a bigger shed up using blocks and once i done that that will be a perfect place to mount that 3 meter pole just looking forward to it all.

Alcoa perforated dish, American.

They performed well, they also did a model which was solid.

They were the competitor to IRTE in Italy which makes similar dishes, people was a bit confused as they thought it was IRTE.

I think I read somewhere that the copper nail is a myth...maybe mythbusters? I think that if you drill a nice thin & deep hole near the root of the tree downwards with a hand drill (nice and quiet) and then inject it with normal available battery acid it does the business. ..

Ringbarking is the answer gentlemen.

Run around the trunk of the tree with a knife or saw leaving a gap of 5mm+ in the bark.
the tree is dead before you leave ! :-cry1

Rootkill from your friendly local garden centre.

Pick a dark night and get digging, and hope the roots aren't too deep and widespread.

N.B. I do not condone this action if the trees aren't yours and have only used this method on a particularly obstinate treetrunk.
