I saw Wolf Creek on Film 4 last year and I found it really scary and realistic. After that, I saw the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Masasacre which was good too.
It seems a trend these days to fill horror films with as much realism and gore as possible. probably because it takes a lot to scare some of us hard-bitten news watchers who have seen the real horrors in Iraq.
I watched Hostel #2 last night and I was disappointed. I haven't seen Hostel #1 but I'm told the films are in the same league as Wolf Creek. Wolf Creek has good acting, Hostel #2 didn't.
Basically, it tells the tale of three American students lured to a hostel of pain, where very rich people pay to torture and kill people in the most horrible ways.
I found it distasteful and not very interesting. I particular found the first girl murder not nice to watch.
The ending is so stupid and implausible. All, in all 3 out of 10.
