Hotbird 13 east

Someone out there! please tell me why my sat. engineer keeps focussing me dish westwards when Hotbird is technically 13 degrees east of south?

Also, is there anyone out there who can watch CNN and Discovery channels coz I dont seem to have any reception tho I have the channel on the list.

It all depends on on what position your house is facing and where you live.
Reason you cant see channells is that they are encrypted.

Hi blackhawk

According to my Philips World Atlas the UAE is located at 50*north and 54*east, hence you are further east than the satellite located over the equator. To access the satellite your dish must be pointing west of your due south.
The satellite position of Hotbird is 13*east of the zero meridian which passes through Greenwich, and not 13*east of your due south position.
