Help Please!!

Currently got a Vantage HD 7100S receiver hooked up to a 90cm dish with Monobloc LNB viewing Astra/Hotbird.

I'm having problems with the Hotbird Transponder 10892 H (Cyfra+). The receiver is only giving me a 0-4% signal strength on this transponder and not finding any channels. All other channels in the Cyfra+ package are present and overall the Astra/Hotbird channel signal/quality strength is in the 80s & 90's. I had the same problem when I had the Humax 2000, but not when it was hooked up to the Technisat Digicorder S2!

Any clues? Could it be the Monobloc LNB?

Thank you all.

10892 you say, that rings a bell, ha a pun there as well, Just confirm you have a DECT phone up and running, and if you have try switching it off at the base station completely then see if you get that frequency

Could be, or perhaps a digital phone sat too close to the receiver.

Nope. Still 4% strength. Sorry, I read some of the previous threads about missing transponders and disconnected the DECT phone in hope before posting my question.

My could be, was referring to the monobloc LNB Topper, you may notice that we posted almost simultaneously. :)

@ APJH. You need to totally disable the phone and base station.

Well worth trying. :)

Strange that one particular receiver would work though.

I've had a similar problem on 11823 H (Nova) on a 1.2m prime focus dish using the Vantage 200 series combo. I managed to resolve this by editing the transponder in the manual scan menu by changing the frequency to 11825. Have a play with this transponder by increasing or decreasing the frequency and watching the signal bars.

Thanks for all the responses to date.

An update: I had a few minutes over the weekend to try and find a solution. The good news is that I managed to improve the overall signal strength

The bad news is that I have 1 Transponder on Astra 1 that's not giving me a signal and 6 on Hotbird, not 1 as I reported earlier. The only link to all of them is that they are Horizontal in polarisation:

Astra 1F: 11.914 H (27500 3/4)

Hot Bird 7A: 10.892 H (27500 3/4)
Hotbird 6: 10.971 H (27500 3/4)
Hotbird 6: 11.054 H (27500 5/6)
Hotbird 6: 11.096 H (28000 3/4)
Hotbird 7A: 11.373 H (27500 3/4)
Hotbird 7A: 12.654 H (27500 3/4)

Any further ideas before I call in the engineers?

From the look at those frequencies, I would suggest that the LNB may be suspect, the IF range is 1 Ghz to 2 Ghz and they are all on Horizontal.

I am happy to read that you have setup the Vanntage stb with a monoblock LNB for Astra and Hotbird.

I am having problems with the setup, good many channels are missing.
Have changed the antenna setup parameters, then other channels were missing.
Please write the setup parameters that you are using
Thanks in advance

Yes, it's not a high band, low band issue from the freq's you posted but a Horz prob. I too suspect the LNb:D

Hi all. Sorry for not posting an update sooner. The CABLE was the problem. I am now using a Visiosat Bisat dish with a much shorter cable run for viewing Astra/Hotbird. I also use this dish for Sky+.

To Matypapa. If you are using a monobloc or 2 lnbs via an external DiSEqC switch to view Asta/Hotbird try this setting:

Astra - LNB Power: ON, Longitude: 19.2E, LNB Type: Universal 1, LNB Frequency 9750/10600, DiSEqC Port: Port 2, Tone 22kHz: Auto, Switch 0/12V: Off, Motor: No, DiSEqC 1.1: Off

Hotbird - LNB Power: ON, Longitude: 19.2E, LNB Type: Universal 1, LNB Frequency 9750/10600, DiSEqC Port: Port 1, Tone 22kHz: Auto, Switch 0/12V: Off, Motor: No, DiSEqC 1.1: Off

If that doesn't work switch the DiSEqC Ports around ie. Astra - Port: 1 & Hotbird - Port: 2

Better late than never:-rofl2

Just out of interest, what type of cable were you using and how long was it?
