I'm re-routing an existing cable and I need to push it through some already drilled holes - trouble is I can't get the blooming f-connector off!

I know the obvious answer is to just lop off the end of the cable just before the connector but I want to put that connector back on again (seems better than the dozen or so cheapo ones I've got).

Or in other words... I like to make a mountain out of a mole hill! :D :-doh!

Looks like a crimped jobbie to me. Once on, have to be cut off I'm afraid.

It's not an awful lot larger than the cable...slightly larger hole perhaps?

It's a 'snap n seal', the blue plastic ferule is snapped into place with a compression tool and forms a very good seal on the cable as well as anchoring it.
Very difficult to seperate intact, especially with a fitting that has been on some time.
Faily easy to obtain, and not to difficult to snap into place , a bit of ingenuity and brute force. :D

Too late, I've chopped it!

But the larger hole idea wouldn't have worked - I've got those plastic doughnut thingies that are plugged into the hole in the wall (you know, so that it looks tidier/hides the broken plaster!).

Cheers. I've never been too good with f-connectors so when I get around to getting a professional in I'll make sure that they put any 'snap n seal's that may be required!

Having said that, I've put f-connectors on for friends (but I deserve better!)

Most installers don't use or even stock them, I tend to use the high quality crimp version which are just as good in my opinion.:)

The 'snap n seal' connectors do make a good mechanical connection, good grip on the cable and good moisture seal, full 360 deg. compression & the plastic ferule even has it's own rubber ring. Electrically I would think they are the same as any other properly fitted connector.

Disadvantage is that it is quite bulky compared with some of the crimp ones, needs a compression tool, and costs a bit more. Seems to be the standard fitting by the cable fitters round here. :)

Yes, NTL use them nationally I believe, probably because they are easier to use with the horrible sticky underground cable. :)

Hello guys! Just wondering if any of you know where I can get these Snap-n-Seal connectors in the UK at a reasonable price? I know that they are made by Thomas and Betts but I can only seem to find them in the US. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Paul
