My local shop (in Gran Canaria) has started selling cheap FTA systems which include a combined digital terrestrial receiver and FTA satellite system (costs €99,00).

I am only used to Sky digiboxes so I am intregued to see that in addition to the LNB input there is a SAT OUT socket.

Does anyone know if this suggests that unlike a Sky box, there is to H/V or 22KHz switching and these boxes can therefore be daisy chained together?

Sorry I don't know anything about the LNB I am afraid.

Thanks.

I do not consider that to be unusual it is simply an lnb loopthrough to allow a secondary STB like my manual says

Thanks for your reply and the useful picture.

My question is, what happens when one STB is tuned to a vertically polarised channel and the other horizontal? As far as I know an LNB can't receive both at once.

I should think that only one box is on at a time with the other box on standby.

You can connect a second receiver but what it can receive depends on what the first receiver is currently tuned to. If you change channels on the first receiver you may lose the channel that you were looking at on the second receiver.

You should set the second receiver so that it doesn't send 12V to the LNB.

If you want to use two receivers independently of each other you need to have independent feeds from the dish. A simple way of doing this is to replace the LNB with a dual version having two connectors, then run a line from one connector to one receiver and from the other connector to the other receiver.
