Looks like the op has been trying to setup the dish using 28east. It would have worked but guess the motor angle is not set correct or the roof of the house in the pic is in the way ?

what do you mean by the motor angle? as in the angle it is connected to the pole?

Yes i thought it would work, as i was simply just trying to get 28e..was going to do motorisation a little later down the line.

I get the feeling your not reading the guides, and taking short cuts will not help matters because you will miss vital steps.

It could just be the angle of the photo's but check the dish is central on the motor shaft, there is a casting spline on most you can use. Why do you want to send the motor to 0 ? If you setup as you propose it still won't work, you will be out by several degrees.

Sir,
I wish to send the motor to zero becuase i am moving the set up from an old set up, so im presuming it all has to be reset?

Send to zero, then line it all up with 1w. On the guides it says set it to ZERO then find 1w.

should i scrap the ZERO thinking?

I need a list of things to do when i go out there tomorrow morning.

Firstly I shall check the dish is centreal on the motor shaft. If it is I will then move the dish/motor to 1w.

I have just realised....Ive obviously been moving the whole Dish/Motor to find 28e earlier...that is clearly wrong becuase you have to find 1w moving the whole dish/motor then the USALs will move only the dish(not the motor) to go and find 28e...right? Sorry for my poor lingo, im rushing here, if you understand please spread some love and give a little tip.

cheers

The guides don't say "send the motor to zero then line up on 1w"

Slow down and stop rushing. Read the guides and you will see it says :-
Use USALS to send the dish to 1w, then allign on 1w.

Follow these instructions as detailed.

>> Make sure the motor inclination bracket is set to the correct markings and all bracketry / masting are level.

>> Place the dish centre on the motor shaft and tighten.

>> Lift the dish with motor onto the mast and aim to a rough South using a compass.

>> Calibrate the motor then insert YOUR coordinates via USALs.

>> Motorise dish / send to either 1W or 5W. [The motor will move to the calculated position based on your longitude].

>> Align the dish to either of the above satellites [depending on which you select]. This is done by swinging the motor and dish together AS ONE and by adjustment of the dish elevation bracket.

>> Once you confirm you have hit the correct satellite, check either ends of the arc for tracking. If you're off, spring the dish to see where the correction has to be made.

thanks this will be a great help tomorrow morning, just a couple of queries..

would rough south be towards the 1west area? i dont have a compass (sorry)

what does colaborate motor mean? The USALS settings are already on my dreambox with my coordinates.

finally, could you explain the last step abit? dont understand too much

thanks all!!!

use dishpointer website enter your location and select thor 1west to see the direction of the satellite.

spring the dish is lightly press the dish up/down and if the signal increases you know the dish elevation needs to be adjusted up or down etc

Yes, spring the dish is poorly worded, and If your off (if your what is off?) can be confusing, it should be If you're off i.e. If you are off . Incorrect grammar can mean different things to different people.....

Don't be so pedantic. It's obvious what it means in the context of the sentence.

You should realign the dish to 1 West, as you have found Hotbird, 13 East.

Unh.

Typing fast late at night with several browsers open, one is bound to make to odd typo; it happens. Anyway for the purpose of a clear understanding, I have now corrected the sentence.

Hi,
I dont understand this, its getting daft. I left screen on sat finder for 1w...

lock and good signal, so why has it found 13 east channels? what am i doing wrong? if the system says lock on 1w surely somethings up?

could you explain? i mean i dont wanna adjust the system again just to find more channels from another signal even though it says lock on 1 West

The same frequencies are used for all. Find 1.0°W on the receiver and select 11.325h, 24500, 7/8. Then adjust to get a lock. Once happy, scan the receiver and check you are on Thor.
