How do I delete a saved video clip ?
Do I need to ftp in to remove it or can I do it through the software ?
I haven't quite got to grips with all the video recording features yet
And what satellite tv guide should I be buying ?
Preferably one that I can find in WHSmiths
Be nice to know which films etc have an English sound feed and maybe the program names in English aswell.
I wouldn't delete movies or files by ftp. When you log in to hdd by ftp, you will see all the 1 GB fragments of the files and some other files which are the index for the on screen menu of DB. If you jujst delete the .ts files, you are not clearing the index.
Here is how to do it using DB handset:
Got to main menu and choose "file mode"
If you see:
root
harddisk
recorded movies
then OK, skip the next bit
Press the stop play button (bottom left).
Press the up button above OK and the red button to get root.
Now you should see the root -> hd -> recorded movies
Toggle down to recorded movies and press OK
There you have your list of junk or watched movies.
Toggle to select one you wish to delete
Press menu (just to the right of the toggle up button)
Toggle down to delete and press OK.
Its deleted so repeat for the next one.
Tedious I know but if its any consolation, the time I was playing with hdd, I managed to record about a 100 useless clips and got to the state where I had to read the 7200S manual to find how to delete them.
PS, storing an MTV clip on your hdd is perfectly legal. You may find MTV educational, I don't. You would only hit the law if you started uploading the clips to a website for your m8s.
Have fun.
With 300GB hdd and the ability to store abt 100 movies, I have stopped burning 'ordinary' movies to DVD and just save classics. So when her upstairs wants a thriller, I dont show her a stack of disks anymore, but just toggle the menu list.
Now your last request is a tall order. The simplest way is to hit the audio button while the channel is playing a movie. It will show the languages. Toggle to English -- if there. Multivision for example have French and English but often the English plays French as well. Even if you record with the toggle set to French, you can select English on play back. The scandin channels often have English, more accurately original sound track, by default (Kiosk) which is fine. Some others on 1W have English only in AC3 which the DB doesnt support. I must try and see if I can recover that by doing a .ts to DVD. There is a sat movie page somewhere on web I used to use. Its on another machine I use rarely, so will do a hunt.
