Can I enable French subtitles on Free to Air system giving me TV5monde (learning the language).
My system:
Satellite: 01 Astra 2 (282E)
My Box: Product- Ferguson AF-3100CK
SW / HW: S1.40 / H1.0

TV5 Monde broadcast several language subtitles including French, Russian, English, Dutch, etc. in TTX (horrible looking) or DVB.
But not all the programs transmit subtitles, you have to check what is available while viewing.
There should be a subtitle button on your Ferguson receiver which you can use to select the preferred language.

on the bottom left, there is a ST = Sous-Titres disponible which tells you if the program has subtitles.
Here is an example
MONSIEUR LA SOURIS
On the right side it reads:
Langue(s) des sous-titrages
Francais teletexte

Here is a screenshot of what the subtitles options look like for a certain program .
In this case, only English is being transmitted
This channel is from Hotbird 13E. Sorry I can't receive the Astra one in my location, but it might be the same or better.

There are three FTA French channels from Eutelsat 9E (Swiss). They transmit subtitles most of the time
Eutelsat 9B & Ka-Sat 9A at 9.0°E - LyngSat
12034 V 27500 8PSK
Try to get this satellite, they have better picture quality than TV5 Monde (I am assuming you have SD channel)
