You wont have any of the BBC channels on your Irish subs, so the Add Channels option is the only way to go.

Except BBC NI of course.....

This also works. Go to Sky News on a ROI sub. Press red button to go interactive. When the various interactive screens appear take out your viewing card. Now press the Sky button to exit. Searching for listings will appear and it will find the UK epg instead of the ROI one!
BBC Scotland will be on 971 and all the ITV's will also be on there.

Denis, you are absolutely genius!!!! And you have made me look like one too, or so my wife thinks. I live in the ROI (just over the border from Derry) and my wife hated not having ITV and 5, analog reception is bad where i live. This quick and easy trick has saved the day!!!

You still wont be able to watch Channel 5! - you need a ftv card in the box for that.

A/S and all, one question please: apart from using Lyngsat/Flysat and the like is there any other way of knowing the frequency of channels on the Sky platform?

On many non-Sky receivers, pressing 'Info' brings up, well, the information but not so with the Sky Remote. Thus, I can see that BBC1 is on Sky EPG 101, but how do I find out its frequency using just Sky Receiver and Remote? Thanks in advance.

You cant on a digibox.

Take a printout of the 28E list from flysat and keep it handy.

Well is it? I do not think so, the digibox was developed for the average person in the street not for the satellite hobbyist, the need for such detailed information disappears as the average user has no need of it indeed all that goes on behind the scenes is transparent to the user.

No need to split hairs on the point but most basic (even) FTA receivers are not 'hobbyist' receivers and they are happily used by the every day sat viewers (average persons) in many countries. It helps to keep them informed on a basic level but I guess one can see some advantages to the dumbing down/keep people uninformed approach - at least it's convenient.

Yes indeed they achieved what they wanted and created an stb that is practically totally useless on another satellite apart from 28.2 Deg East whether used by Mr or Mrs Average or Mr DIY Hobbyist, but I for one do not applaud that indeed I think it is a waste, but opening up the stb to more detailed analysis would probably then incur interest from people wanting to watch s k y without paying their due subs to Mr Murdoch.

By coincidence SWMBO just called me down as the epg had stopped working (again) on our Sony sky box so I rebooted and everything is back again. What classification does that put SWMBO in AS?
