Hi guys
I purchased recently a Hi Gain Tv aerial and i am gonna go fit it on my roof. The problem is how can i be sure i fit it in the right direction. Is there a signal monitoring program for the pc?

There is if you have a DVB-T PCI card, but otherwise it is down to comparrison with the direction of surrounding aerials.

I think that most of them have a signal strength bar, but have no way of seeing at the moment, as I am abroad with my laptop.

see my freeview aerial guide, further below, which is generally applicable, principles are exactly the same:

www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/showthread.php?t=43646

I don't have a PC dvb-t (freeview) card, but you need the menu selection that shows signal strength/quality, across the digital multiplexes and per multiplex. Find the lowest strength one, then on that adjust aerial for highest "signal quality" (not necessarily the highest strength!). That should be the best reception, if you're in reception range and there's no special problems.

It will depend entirely on what is in between your aerial and the transmitter.
