I've just installed the reputable custom Firmware for Foxsat HDR produced by Raydon.

All seems well but I haven't had time to fully evaluate it yet.

Provides stuff like a fully-featured Web Interface, streaming over Network, ability to add non-Freesat Channels to the main EPG etc

Installed the VLC Plugin for Foxsat and have got Streaming going without any problems at all (Only works for Unencrypted Recordings: Essentially, SD).

Now also added a full Remote control via Web Interface plus a Channel Editor.

This is Brill!

Now added Sky News to Freesat list: No need for all that mode changing faff any more.

Hi there, read and dowload this patch from the same forum as raydon's firmware, and your hd recordings made in Freesat mode will be unencrypted and thus streamable (and exportable) along with the sd recordings, happy days

I have been using Raydon's software for some months now and love it. Next task is to set it up for diseqc and multi sat and then add foreign channels to the Freesat list too ( if I ever get time to do it, that is)

I'd like to try this out as well but it needs loader version U7.53 or later and mine is on U7.52.

I've tried to update from a USB drive but it just wouldn't work. This means I can't drive DiSeqc either, of course.

I'm prompted to have another go by this post though.

Excellent! I shall try that Patch later - still in my Pyjamas here as I've been playing with this all morning.

Edit: Wow, that really is hot off the press.

Will report back later!

Thanks again.

Paul, the Foxsat is very fussy indeed about what stick you use: Try a few and it will eventually work.

Small capacity ones are best.

I used the first usb stick that came to hand, 4GB i think, a maxell.
The Foxsat HDR is a superb machine with the modded firmware.
I'm adding a 1TB hard drive next week, too.

Question: That Patch appears to be for streaming using Twonky or Media Tomb (Me neither ...........) but I want to stick to using the Web Interface and VLC - does it do that?

I'm not sure. Haven't tried it myself yet, but I use linux and xbmc, so hopefully that will work.
Off topic I can't post here from Linux Mint any more, I have to use Windows (Boooo........) so slow. Keep getting "post is empty" warning.

I tried a few, one was only 256MB. I'll have another go when I have the time.

Are you sure you need Loader 7.53?
(Posted from Linux Mint but using Midori browser, not Firefox 17)

Ok - I'm sure you'll manage.

ISTR there was a "funny" of some sort about updating the Loader - have a butcher's on the HUMAX UK Download pages.

Just added the sole surviving BBC Red Button as a proper (Recordable) Channel in Freesat mode.

ISTR that when I first heard about this firmware that a README said so. Because it was still early days I didn't do anything and since then, of course, the loader has progressed to U7.54 and there have been several software updates. I suspect that the latest bundled update download won't work because the software side is already on the latest version.
I must be getting old. I'm finding myself more and more of the "I can't be arsed to try", especially when I've done exactly what's required three or four times.

Grumpy old git, me?

Glad you like it. I dithered for ages before going ahead with it, I'm so glad I did now.

Same here, but my confidence was boosted after I bricked then recovered a Skybox F3 recently.

Also, I removed the phone socket from my Lounge years ago as it was picking up interference from my then BSkyB box and causing ADSL drop-outs.

Since that is long gone, I ran it back in yesterday and now have my Router nearby, with Ethernet connection to the Foxsat HDR (Didn't want to fork out for Homeplugs!).
