... and specifically the top cam wheel for a Superjack II+ HQ. I bought this second-hand - it had already been installed for around 25 years - and used the software stops of my positioner, but the Superjack is now being fitted to another dish, after a good overhaul, and I really need the hardware stop to work. Only the lower cam wheel is there, the top one is missing. Does anyone have one lying around at the back of the shelf, or maybe an old Superjack that doesn't work anymore that can be cannibalised? I'd be very grateful! None of the usual dealers that I have asked have such spare parts ... David.

Are those what you want? Not sure if this was off a Superjack.. How coarse are the teeth on your bottom cam? IMG_20210313_130653.jpg

I may have one or two lying around (cheaper than sending from abroad), but I will need the diameter and possibly a photo of the lower one to determine if they are the same.

Thanks for looking guys. Here's a pic of the bottom one:

The diameter is 24mm, and 26mm including the 'bump'. I can't see any teeth on it though ....
@ Scopus: yes, that looks very 'superjackish' to me.

My upper cam has teeth to lock into the bottom cam. Can't say I have ever seen a cam without the teeth..

It has the 'two screw' locking, different design to those with teeth which rely on one clamp solution.

I'll have a good look on Monday evening when I'm back in the office.

Mine is probably a very old design because this particular antenna was installed in the middle of the 80s. They built them rugged back then because it's otherwise still in good condition and working fine.

I had a look around earlier but no, all the ones here are of the single screw/toothed variety

Interesting that the second actuator I pulled out of the shed - white cams - had teeth where they don't actually serve any purpose.

If you can take your cam off the spindle and photograph I may be able to work a way of getting the more common variety to bolt on.

Many thanks for rooting around CH. Here are some pics of the bottom cam. It is fixed to the internal cog wheel from inside with a single cross-head screw. I guess that the top cam must have a single screw in the middle that drives into the bottom cam. It would locate with two or four lugs that match the holes on the bottom cam, one of which is smaller to guarantee correct alignment - see the picture above from Saturday 13th.

What is on the underside of your black and white top cams that locates them to the bottom one? If it looks like it could match mine - no matter what colour - we'd have a solution! Cheers, David.

Nothing like that unfortunately, the modern versions are all cut from single cylinder material foor reducing the cost, no shaft built in.

Can you take a picture of the complete side of the gearbox ?

Perhaps the only option is to fit a one-piece double-cam instead of the two individual ones. Here are some pictures of this historic relic ;-) with the lid on and off.

There's an ole in the middle of this cam wheel, about the right size to take a self-tapping screw to fix the top cam.
What are you thinking when you need a picture of the whole gearbox ... ?
D.

The first motor I took a picture of is also a Superjack and is the oldest one I have in the store. I will check again this weekend.

Fabricating a cam from a piece of plastic (it doesn't have to be circular, just big enough to have two holes for the self tapping screws) might be in order.

I am pretty sure I have one these jacks as well. I've no idea what state of repair they are in... Will check at the weekend.

@ Captain Jack: something for the weekend, sir? A rummage in the dark depths of your store of 'useful bits and pieces' perhaps? Looking forward to the results ... !

I will be delving further back into the shed on Sunday as I need to find a part of an old aerial. Will report back with anything that looks similar.

Just to close this thread off: a guy who lives near Lake Constance has very kindly measured the lower wheel, recreated it with a CAD program and saved the file. Then he removed the shaft from the drawing and saved that too. His 3D printer then made exact replicas of the originals. I fitted them and they work perfectly. So if anyone ever needs some cam wheels for an older Superjack II (HQ) like in the pictures above, let me know, I have a few spares.
