I am going to get a motorized dish installed, i want it to use disecq so i can turn it using my dreambox, and i want to be able to pickup most satellites in europe i live in central england (near nottingham). What price should i pay for this setup including installation, and would a 80cm do it or would i need a 1m dish ?

Go for a 1m dish, but you would need a good DiSEqC motor.

Do you already have the Dreambox ?
Wall or ground mount ?
Distance of dish to receiver ?
Normal house or 20 storey block ?

I already have 2 dreamboxs, wall mount (ground mount optional if needed), dish to reciever is like 10m max (more like 5m) normal detached house.

The bigger the dish the more transponders and birds you can pick.
With a DiSEqC motor don't plan on running a larger dish than a 1~1.2 if you HAVE to use the dreambox.

I would suggest you doing the Installation yourself, because if you need to adjust something, Your going to have to call the installer again and again to re-align or adjust, that WILL add up. And if this is your hobby or not something WILL need to be adjusted/re-aligned.

I can think of a system running anywhere from a couple hundred into the thousands UKP, Depends on how deep your pockets are.

I would definitly go for the 1mt as you might need to pull some on 1w (when they come back) heres hoping. I use a Manhattan HH 120 motor with no problems, but you will find a motec cheaper a good few here have them. I would have a go at doing it yourself, have a good read through the threads and we are here to help you out. If you cant do it then get someone to do it for you. But be warned it aint cheap to get a motor installed as it takes a good bit of time finding the sats. Only took me a week the 1st time. But now I do them in my sleep. Doing another one next week & here is hoping that we get more footie for next season.

You are better off aligning on 1W as Nottingham is just over a deg from south.
If you were in Glasgow or Belfast then 5W would be the thing.

Daft, for the joys of setting up read some of my old posts both in DReambox and motorised section from about 2 or 3 months ago...

I paid (ish): HH motek motor £45, 90cm clear dish £85, wall mount £6. pole free. labour free.

im only 16 mate, i have hardly any labour skills :p and i doubt my mum is gonna let me drill into my house :p. I already have a 64cm dish mounted, is it possible to take that down and fit a motorized system on the same bracket? since i could probably do that.

If your brackets are any good then you might try an 80cm and lightweight motor as listed above.
People wont even notice the difference after a couple of weeks if at all.
All the help you need is here matey :D

(apart from actually doing it of course)

Just get a scaffolding pole. Concrete it in a hole in your garden where you have a south view. Get your dish attached to that.

It is a lot easier to set up at ground level than getting up the ladder all the time. You can then keep adjusting until you are 100% happy with your signal. No installer cost involved

Agreed, some real sense is coming back to the forum.
Ive seen 3m scaffold posts without guy ropes withstand a lot of buffeting.
The rule of thumb is 30% below ground, (you can dig a couple of feet and drive the rest down as far as you can) so get a spade, and a BIG mallet - and some wheatabix.

Just make sure you drill holes in the sunken part of the pole where it sits in the concrete, and maybe add a couple of bolts through them. Stops the pole from twisting if a high wind hits your location.
