Does this only happen when you're browsing the internet, using Firefox?
Have you noticed if it happens when using flash player?
If you do an internet search, for VPU Recover, you will see many have the same problems, but usually when playing games, but equally this can be due to overheating, you can try taking the case sides off and see if this extra cooling stops the problem.
It could also be down to your memory sticks, try removing one and see if the problem still occurs, if so try removing the other stick and replace the on you previously removed.
How much RAM do you have, and how many sticks of memory?
Are they all the same brand, and type?

Thanks for answering.

Tried different RAM, in varying sticks up to 3GB (2 x 1, 2 x o.5), same brand.

Different video card as mentioned.

Side is off and main CPU fan is set to 'active' so I can gauge when the machine is processing more info.

I have been using Firefox only since the upgrade(s), though I was going experiment with Explorer later on today, no time to play games.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Have you tried using a non-dell computer? I find that works well for most situations where an old dell suffering from their deatchclock system is being a PITA... :)

Some games are good for testing your system, as they use a lot of memory, graphics and CPU.
Try using just the 2 x1 GB sticks, in the correct slots, Motherboards usually have them colour matched, but check an online manual.
If that fails then try just the 2 x 0.5 GB sticks.
I would also check your motherboard manufacturers website for advice on compatible memory.
Crucial used to have diagnostic software, on their site, that scanned your PC and recommended which memory was most suitable, it was very useful, for older machines, I used to work on, where you couldn't get any information, regarding the motherboard.

And today, without doing anything, she is behaving herself, despite downloading and installing MediaPlayer 11 to allow connection to the company HTC phone.

There wasn't a blue screen, the PC would continue restarting, more or less at any time. Three hours last night and so far so good.
